I love all things sweet. And while I am seriously cutting down my sugar intake for health reasons, sometimes I can't help but indulge myself once in a while. I especially love the idea of cupcakes = bite-sized cakes! Sonja's Cupcakes will always be my first love, I think I've written something about it before, so imagine my kilig when I met Ms. Sonja herself at the BGC Food Tour I joined with Elaine recently.
She was such a joy! She was so humble, I don't think she realizes how popular her cupcakes are. She was even genuinely surprised that I know the name of my favorite Cupcakes by Sonja's = Lemon Drop!
Recently for our send-off dinner for Teddie, we had desserts at the oh-so-lovely, picture-perfect Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, I couldn't stop taking pictures!!!! The place was screaming of all things pretty and all things dainty. I couldn't remember the cupcakes, they weren't bad definitely, but it's the place that made the most impression!
However, while Cupcakes by Sonja will always have a special and dedicated place in my heart and I just fell in love with Vanilla Cupcake Bakery for the lovely set up, I am still very much on the lookout for all things new and sweet out there. One of my recent happy discovery is Gigi's Cupcakes, by the same Gigi Caerlan who makes the equally delish custaroons. Got this recommendation from the famous blogger, www.DessertComesFirst.com =) She describes it early in the year as one of the upcoming dessert havens of 2013, and since I always see it whenever I visit Julie in Libis, I tried it out one day. It has since been one of my pitstops every time I go to Eastwood.
Green Tea is my absolute favorite!
I think this was Choco Mint
The requisite Red Velvet
Their Lemon-flavored one is good too =)
Their cupcakes are moist, light and yummy, with the frostings blending so well with the bread. Their green tea variant is my absolute favorite as I love everything green tea. Theirs had this right-on-the-spot green tea aftertaste which I always look for. Sizes are a little smaller than the usual ones we see out there, but just right for me.
I visit their branch at the Felina Corporate Plaza Lobby in Eastwood City, but I heard they were also opening up a branch in the new East Wing of Edsa Shangri-La Plaza this September. Yey!
